First full day back in Amsterdam. I slept like a rock for 9 hours, because my bed didn't feel like a rock. My "old place" on the third floor was an inviting change from the Paris apt. nightmare. Having 4 large down pillows, I felt I was in heaven.
Today my plan is the venture out to areas of Amsterdam that I have not been. Today it is out to the South Canals. This is a very beautiful area and a bit upscale from where Ive been staying. The canals are much wider and surrounded by the same continuing row houses that I have seen all along. The architecture is a bit more contemporary with more modern buildings with glass and steel. I think I like the older more traditional Dutch architectural look. I also run across some buildings/structures that are over 300 years old. One place where I stopped was a structure, now a bar on one of the canals, that was built in 1696. Pictures can be found on FaceBook.
I probably walked 5-6 miles today, so Im treating myself to a nice large Italian meal of lasagne, garlic bread and a nice Cab from Chile.
